P8Auth Terminology:

Below is a list of words you will read throughout this document with and an explanation of each.

Username: A username is the MSISDN number assigned to a device. In P8Auth a username is also considered as a ‘Subscriber’ as the MSISDN/Device subscribes to the network.

Labels: P8Auth makes use of system labels which can be created and assigned to a username (MSISDN/Device). The purpose of labels is to group MSISDN’s/Devices according to any particular identifier you would like to assign to an MSISDN/Device or Group of Devices. For example, you may want to create a label defining a particular region and assign to MSISDN/Devices in that region.

Templates: P8Auth supports both email and SMS templates for notifications. Where ever you see a template section this refers to either a configurable email or SMS notification template. Both SMS and Email Templates are customizable at a Reseller Level which allows the Reseller to add customized branding to notifications.

Notifications: Notifications are system-generated emails or SMSs sent to the email address or SMS number associated with a ‘Username’ (MSISDN/Device). The purpose of these notifications is to inform the contact of data usage values and when the MSISDN/Device has utilized all available data.

TopUp: A Top Up allows for a Reseller Admin to add additional bandwidth to an (MSISDN/Device) should the device be capped. Note that each MSISDN/Device will have a specific limit on the amount of data that can be topped up as well as the number of times a top-up can be added.

Capped: This is a status indicator for the MSISDN/Device and is shown when an MSISDN/Device has run out of available data.

Disabled: This is a status indicator for the MSISDN/Device and is shown when an MSISDN/Device has been disabled on the system. If disabled the MSISDN/Device will no longer be able to connect to the network and consume data.

Suspended: This is a status indicator for the MSISDN/Device and is shown when an MSISDN/Device has been suspended on the system. If suspended the MSISDN/Device will no longer be able to connect to the network and consume data.

Product: P8Auth products are defined at the top level and are assigned to a ‘Username’ MSISDN/Device. The purpose of a product is to assign a specific data volume that the MSISDN/Device is allowed to consume.

Network: Each ‘Username’ (MSISDN/Device) is assigned to a specific network. The network assigned defines the IP address allocated to the MSISDN/Device when connected to the network and assists in ensuring the MSISDN/Device is connected and routed correctly within the APN.

IP Address: As per above is the IP address to which the MSISDN/Device will be assigned when connected to the APN.

Provider: Is the Cellular Provider to which the MSISDN/Device is assigned. There are two currently configured Providers being ‘Vodacom’ and ‘MTN’.

Authentications: This is relevant to only MSISDN/Devices which require authentication. The specific area shows the authentication requests from the MSISDN/Device when joining the network and aids in troubleshooting connectivity issues.

Usage: Each MSISDN/Device when selected will present a ‘Usage’ tab. In the usage section, you can define a date period and view usage per day for the defined period for the specific MSISDN/Device.

Schedule: This defines the time at which a device is suspended or deleted from the system should an MSISDN/Device be scheduled for deletion or suspension.

Connections: Each MSISDN/Device when selected will present a ‘Connections’ tab. In the Connections section, you will see all connections and sessions to the APN for the specific MSISDN/Device. This allows for insight into connections made by the MSISDN/Device to the APN and assists with troubleshooting.

Audit Log: Each MSISDN/Device when selected will present an ‘Audit’ tab. In the Audit section, you will see any changes made by admins to a particular MSISDN/Device. This aids in confirming who has made changes to the specific MSISDN/Device.

Schedule Suspension: Each MSISDN/Device when selected will present the option to Schedule a Suspension of the MSISDN/Device. The purpose of this option is to set a date on which you would like the device to be suspended on the APN.

Schedule Deletion: Each MSISDN/Device when selected will present the option to Schedule a Deletion of an MSISDN/Device. The purpose of this option is to set a date on which you would like the device to be deleted from the system.

Transfer: As a reseller, if you have multiple customers and you want to re-assign an MSISDN/Device to another customer this option will allow you to move the device to that customer and select the relevant network and provider for the MSISDN/Device.

Users: Users are actual users assigned to a company or reseller who have access to login and view and manage MSISDN/Devices.
