Normal vs Transparent Filter mode
When you are configuring a web profile under web security on the Percol8 device you will come across a tab called Filter mode.
The Filter mode will have two options:
- Normal or
- Transparent
Normal Mode | This requires that a web proxy is configured in the users browser that listens on port 3128. Browsers will talk directly to the Web Proxy and based on policy settings the web proxy will allow or block the web page. Normal mode needs to be configured on each web browser either manually or through an automated deployment process such as a group policy. |
Transparent Mode | This does not require any web proxy to be configured within the users web browser. The traffic gets intercepted transparently on port 80 (http) and port 443 (https). |
Both modes have no affect on authentication.
